Yves Corbassière, born on May 16, 1925, in Montmartre, France, was a versatile French artist known for his talents in various artistic disciplines, including painting, sculpture, engraving, and lithography. His family background was rooted in industrial manufacturing; his grandfather, Auguste-Joseph Corbassière, had founded an earthenware company, while his father, Pierre Corbassière, expanded the business, operating factories in Sarreguemines and Paris.

During his childhood, Yves Corbassière developed a close friendship with the renowned pianist and polymath Boris Vian. This association likely had a significant influence on his artistic development.
