Joy Brand is an artist with a strong interest in landscape, particularly in the Chiltern hills and woodlands of Buckinghamshire where she has spent most of her life. She has also been inspired by other areas of the UK, including North Wales, Scotland, Hampshire, and Somerset. Her work focuses on the forms of moving water, such as streams, rivers, and the sea.

Joy studied at the Slade School of Fine Art and later at the printmaking studio of the former Burleighfield Art Centre. Her attention to detail, which is evident in her work, may have been influenced by her time as a Medical Artist at Moorfields Eye Hospital.

Joy is highly skilled in the technique of lithography and does her own proofing. She is known for her mastery of the medium and her exploration of its possibilities and constraints. For Joy, the technical aspects of lithography are an essential starting point for her work.
